Dr Steve Merten
Dr Merten graduated from Sydney University in 1991 and dedicated a further 11 years of academic and surgical training under the auspices of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to become a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon. He then spent a further year of fellowship, training in Breast Reconstruction at the University of British Columbia (Canada) and Aesthetic Surgery at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery and Monash University (Australia).
Dr Merten formally engages in the training of Registrars at Concord Hospital, a major teaching hospital in Sydney, and was previously Head of Plastic Surgery Department at Concord Hospital and previous Chairman of the NSW Chapter, Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr Merten is currently a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery at Macquarie University and has an academic appointment at Macquarie University Hospital.
While he focuses on all areas of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr Merten is especially passionate about procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, rhinoplasty, facelift surgery, and abdominoplasty.
Dr Merten is an active member within several professional organisations and attends annual conferences to keep up to date with advances in plastic and cosmetic surgery. Professional memberships include:
- Member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)
- Member of the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)
- Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS)
